KCI Conference Power Rankings

Week one is in the books and the KCI went 4-4 overall.

With week two upon us, here's where the conference stands.

(Remember this is all in fun and has no significant meaning towards the season.)

The defending KCI Conference Champions didn’t miss a beat in their home opener against Princeton. The Dragons defeated the Tigers 49-6. This week the Dragons hit the road to take on Southeast High School out of Kansas City.

2. Hamilton (1-0)

The Hornets found themselves in a tightly contested game in week one, earning a hard fought 39-34 victory over a solid Lafayette County team. Up next is an old GRC foe in Gallatin who is coming off a dominant 62-8 win over North Platte.

3. East Buchanan (1-0)

Year two of the Daniel Ritter at East Buchanan started off just like year one, with a win over GRC rival South Harrison. This year however, East Buchanan rolled to a 42-14 win. This week East Buchanan faces another GRC Bulldog team when they travel to Trenton.

4. West Platte (1-0) – New year, new attitude for the Blue Jays of Weston as they opened the season with a 42-27 win over Lone Jack. Great start for a team looking to continue building on a five-win season a year ago. This week they host a South Harrison team licking its wounds from a thorough beating by East Buchanan.

5. Plattsburg (0-1) – Déjà vu for Tiger fans as a new coach led the team last week during their season opener. Fifth time in six years that has happened as the Tigers fell to Polo 14-6. This week the Tigers look to get their first W under Brandon Boswell when they host University Academy.

6. Lawson (0-1)

Cardinals took one on the chin in new head coach Caleb Crawford’s debut, but their 49-0 loss to a very good Oak Grove team shouldn’t be indicative to how their season will unfold. Now the Cardinals turn their attention to another tough challenge in Lafayette County.

7. Lathrop (0-1)

As with Plattsburg and Lawson, Lathrop suffered a 40-6 loss in their new coach’s debut last week falling to Richmond. Head coach John Unrein looks to get his first win as Lathrop head coach against Savannah.

8. North Platte (0-1)

Panthers quest for that first win after a winless 2020 campaign got off to a rough start as they fell to Gallatin 62-8. This week the quest continues when they travel to Maysville who is coming off a shutout loss to North Shelby.
